Israeli press says US to invade Kharg Island: heavy bombings on Tehran

Various Israeli media outlets are stating that the US is about to invade Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf, located off the Iranian coast opposite to Kuwait. Other press reports state that two US Marines amphibious expeditionary units are on their way to the Persian Gulf including with USS Boxer. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham applauded the prospective invasion (below).

Kharg Island is Iran’s major oil export terminal and handles up to 90% of Iran’s crude oil exports. Kharg Island’s oil terminal remained operational during the war but the US struck military targets on the island while Israel struck its energy infrastructure.

Previously, President Trump threatened Iran with blowing up its power plants unless the IRGC opens up the Strait of Hormuz for Western shipping. The Strait of Hormuz is open for vessels selling oil to China and Iran is conducting bilateral negotiations to open the strait for specific countries.

Meanwhile, heavy bombings continued on Tehran by Israeli warplanes (video below). Iran also launched drones at Kuwait and the UAE which were intercepted.
