Enemalta is the country’s most important and vital national asset, but the government uses it like an insignificant civil service office, mostly useful to extend its interests. Despite the fact that Enemalta is bankrupt, is mired in various structural problems, and needs serious leadership in times of global energy crises, the Labour Party is leading the national asset with a clique of Labour Party tools who have no experience and no expertise in the energy sector.
The last time Enemalta filed its accounts was for the year 2022.
We’ve discussed Enemalta’s CEO already: Ryan Fava is an ex-Dockyard worker, and union leader close to George Abela. He was appointed in his role to fulfill orders and remain loyal to the party and the Prime Minister and not because he is competent for the role. Ryan Fava knows as much about hedging an oil crisis as I know about speaking Mandarin.
The other directors on the board of Enemalta are also Labour Party supproters and have no relationship to the energy sector.
Pierre Galea Musu

A Labour Party member and support and an account.
Brian Tabone

Brian Tabone is an experienced engineer in the manufacturing industry but has no experience in the energy industry. He has no public political history.
Trustin Farrugia Cann

He’s a footballer, referee and an electrician. Absolutely bonkers that he is on the board of Enemalta. He has also been appointed CEO of Infrastructure Malta – also bonkers stuff.
Mary Mifsud
Another Labour Party member who is also a government employee. No photo available.
Paula Grech Bonnici

Paula Grech Bonnici is an applied scientist in water, worked for the Water Services Corporation and is a director at MCAST. She has no background in the energy sector.
Then there are the Chinese directors representing Shanghai Electric and its interests and these include: Jun Shi, Zhang Huifeng and Zhou Yao.
These individuals are stewarding the most important national asset in times of crises.
This is not a personal attack against these individuals. The public deserves to know how the government is handling the most important facets of its governance and clearly matters are not up to standard. Let’s be honest what’s going on here.
Enemalta is led by an incompetent Labour clique who is there only fulfill orders from Castille.ย The two professionals thrown in the mix are only there to give a semblance of professionality, but this is not the kind of board you would expect to have to lead Malta’s most important national asset. We need to get more serious about these affairs.
