Hunters and fireworks producers are once again uniting behind Labour in their demand for no accountability. This fight is being propped up by Labour’s publicly funded propaganda machine and driven by outright lies and disinformation.
This goes along with the core of Labour’s current political philosophy: a self-serving populism that empowers the worst elements of society with blanket legal impunity and the freedom to commit crimes, exploit the environment, and avoid the consequences when hurting others or damaging private and public property.
Multiple reports have confirmed extensive damage suffered by farmers as a result of the fireworks blast in Naxxar. Farmers are now being told they cannot sell their products due to extensive chemical contamination. Despite the fact that these rooms are outright dangerous and highly irregular, the government is fighting to keep them, while the dilettantes behind these parasitic hobbies are fighting for no accountability. It is no exaggeration to state that these lobbies have become so empowered that they literally want blanket impunity, even when they cause extensive damage and risk the lives of others.
The president of the hunters’ organisation seems to be suffering from a delirious sense of grandeur, as he invokes a martyr complex and claims that the “high class” of society does not want him to speak. That is quite ironic, considering that the actual “tradition” of hunting is derived from the higher classes and not from the lower classes.
In reality, these hunting dilettantes do not care about facts or reality, tradition or the environment. They are fighting to do what they want. They are the last people who can complain about free speech. These dilettantes own guns and are allowed to use their weapons in public, they were literally handed public land by the government for free, they consistently harass and violently threaten environmental activists and even environmental rangers, and they spread hatred and mockery against environmental activists at Labour Party-themed rallies. On top of this, they kill wild and rare birds with no remorse and they are the second biggest danger to our natural ecosystems following construction development. The Labour government is even allowing them to promote their horrible practices in public schools.
Yet Lucas Micallef feels victimised.
Malta is regressing to the dark ages thanks to people like Lucas Micallef.
