The corrupt practices of Leonid McKay

There is much more to the previous dispute between Transport Minister Chris Bonett and the Prime Minister over Leonid McKay’s appointment than has already been reported in the press. The dispute concerns power and control over the Transport Ministry, but it also runs deeper.

Leonid McKay has no competence or expertise to run anything beyond patronising drug-rehabilitation programmes. However, he has embedded himself within Labour Party structures and government entities through his friendship with disgraced ex-Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and, later, Alex Agius Saliba. McKay’s primary role in government is to serve as a vehicle for Labour Party interests, including securing favours for members of his inner circle, such as Alex Agius Saliba.

Leonid McKay is also involved in corrupt practices at the Housing Authority concerning the distribution of social accommodation to Labour Party supporters. These practices include the promised sale of a public property to a Housing Authority employee, Chantelle Cassar. There is also a formal board decision about this.

We are still expecting a formal reply by the Housing Authority over the distribution and sale of housing units.

Chris Bonett may be dumb and stupid, but he is not corrupt like many of hsi colleagues. He has consistently tried to resist the Prime Minister’s and the Labour Party’s efforts to abuse of the Transport Ministry to hand out favours.

Note that this is a criminal manner that should be investigated by the Police, but I am not holding my breath.
