There is stalemate at the Strait of Hormuz with both the US Navy and the Iranian regime vowing for absolute control of both sides of the strait, yet with both sides capable of damaging each other’s side of the shipping vessels. Axios is reporting that US Military commander in the Middle East said that conducting more bombings in the strait of Hormuz won’t fully prevent the Iranian blockade.
For the US to retain the strait fully opened to commercial shipping without Iran’s interference, it would need a sustained presence of it navy and potentially regular physical escorts.
On Saturday, Iranian Foreign Affairs Minister Abbas Araghchi called EU High Representative Kaja Kallas to protest against a Ukrainian drone attack against an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspain Sea which was identified by Ukraine as carrying military cargo to Russia. The Iranian Foreign Minister said that this action “will not go unanswered”.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has vowed to keep responding against the Houthis if they retain their attacks and blockade in the Red Sea. Saudi Arabia conducted a series of airstrikes against Houthi targets following their blockade against Saudi ports. Pro-Houthi media filmed a Saudi drone which was downed in the Al-Jawf area.
