Al-Zawiya goes dark after drones strike power-station

The western Libyan city of Al-Zawiya has gone dark after a drone struck a power-station in the Al-Harsha area. This attack follows another drone strike earlier last week on a sub-station which followed an attack on the (oil) energy complex.

On Friday, the Libyan Defence Ministry has now announced it will conduct a military intervention.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan visited both Tripoli and Benghazi last week while President Tayyip Erdogan reiterated his support for Libya in its transition for unity and stability.

The city operates under the autonomy of armed units which are affiliated with the government of Tripoli but different armed groups have sought control over the city and its oil energy infrastructure for a number of years.
