Police re-open case on Daphne’s murder to investigate new suspects: involvement of third-parties doesn’t exculpate Fenech

Extraordinary revelations were made today in Court by Prosecutor Anthony Vella during his closing remarks to the jurors in the trial of Yorgen Fenech, who is accused of commissioning the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia. The Prosecutor said that the Police have reopened the investigation into Daphne’s murder and added that, even if third parties were involved, this would not exculpate Yorgen Fenech from his alleged guilt and responsibility for the murder.

The Prosecutor added that Yorgen Fenech chose to pay Melvin Theuma instead of going to the Police.

The revelations were made after Yorgen Fenech accused Keith Schembri during the trial of commissioning the murder, while evidence was also presented showing Keith Schembri leaking confidential information to Yorgen Fenech.

The defence and the Prosecutor are closing their arguments in Court.
