Ammar Mohammed Mahmoud, a Counselor at Sudan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, has accused the US Senior Adviser to the President for Africa, Arab and Middle Eastern Affairs, Massad Boulos, of bias after Boulos condemned Sudanese airstrikes against an RSF convoy passing through the Libya-Chad-Sudan border triangle.
Ammar Mahmoud also stated that Boulos can not expect to be considered as an impartial mediator to the ongoing war in Sudan.
The Sudanese Armed Forces attacked the military convoy with drones, and the targets were passing through Chadian territory at the time of the attack. The Chadian military condemned the attack and subsequently placed its units on high alert.
The military convoy that was struck is just one of many military convoys carrying supplies provided by the UAE that pass through the Libya-Chad-Sudan border triangle into the hands of the RSF. The RSF also operates from Libya, including from a base camp near Kufra. Following the drone strikes against the military convoy, the US proposed a wide-ranging arms embargo on Sudan, with particular reference to drones.
The call follows similar calls by RSF-aligned political forces for a truce whenever the RSF suffers significant military defeats.
Meanwhile, the SAF’s air campaign against RSF logistics and weapons supplies is continuing, with an airstrike against an RSF arms depot in the town of Adikung in West Darfur (footage below).
