Sudan bombed a military convoy designated for the RSF travelling from Libya through Chad in the Libya-Chad-Sudan border triangle on Thursday, August 20th. The attack has been confirmed by various Sudanese press outlets, including Sudanese Echo, and by analyst Rich Tedd.
Chad has also confirmed the attack, condemned the violation of its territory, and said that its forces are on high alert to defend its borders. The Sudanese Armed Forces have also released footage of the attack, which was conducted using drones. Footage shows the military convoy firing back at the drones.
Khalifa Haftar’s regime in Benghazi has been actively aiding the genocidal Rapid Support Forces in a multi-pronged manner, including by hosting them at a base camp near the border with Sudan and by directly fighting the Sudanese army over control of the border. Haftar’s Libyan National Army has also been facilitating the transport of military supplies and weapons from the UAE to the RSF via Libya and the border triangle. Military supplies to the RSF by Libya have also been mentioned in the latest United Nations Security Council report on Libya.
The UAE is a sponsor and supporter of both the Haftar regime and the RSF in Sudan. Chad is also allied with the UAE and has subsequently aided the RSF by allowing the transport of weapons and supplies to the RSF, including through the airport at Amdjarass.
