Ever since Glenn Bedingfield was appointed Home Affairs Minister, he has declared war against the global lumpenproletariat and published images of the Police conducting ICE-style raids on illegal migrants. He deported illegal migrants who had been living in Malta for more than a decade and is now publishing images of criminal suspects on his Facebook page as he applauds the Police for arresting them.
The image he published is of a black man tearing down and stealing a knocker.
Now, irrespective of whether you agree with the Minister’s antics and the law on these issues, the Minister’s actions in his first days in power are all consistently aligned with what is today considered right-wing policy. His behaviour is also that of a far-right politician trying to farm clout by looking tough on society’s undesirables.
This is not the behaviour of a socialist minister, and neither are his politics anything near what today’s socialist and left-wing governments are doing. The socialist and left-wing government of Pedro Sรกnchez regularised migrants who had been living in the country illegally โ they were not granted citizenship.
Now, irrespective of where you stand politically on these matters, the fact remains that Glenn Bedingfield is anything but a socialist as Home Affairs Minister. You don’t need to farm clout from society’s undesirables while maintaining law and order.
On the other hand, the same socialist Minister is a very close friend of the disgraced former Premier Joseph Muscat. Stealing a door-knocker is wrong, but how about stealing millions of Euros’ worth of public funds? A black guy stealing a door-knocker does not seem to be enjoying the same level of “innocent until proven guilty” privilege that Joseph Muscat has been enjoying all this time.
