Prime Minister Robert Abela has given a surprise press conference in the presence of Home Affairs Minister Glenn Bedingfield and Justice Minister Clifton Grima at the Auberge de Castille, in response to Alex Borg’s urgent call to convene Parliament.
The Prime Minister showed no sign of emotion, nor did he say anything relevant, let alone statesman-like. He immediately kicked off the press conference with a stupid and banal comment about the “loads of justice reforms” implemented by his government, and he then confirmed that the debate in Parliament about the verdict will take place.
He only said that the debate should take place with great responsibility and without prejudicing the new investigations into Daphne’s murder.
The Prime Minister sounded completely unmoved and unaffected by the verdict and showed no interest whatsoever in providing any thoughts that may offer some state-like leading guidance despite the serious ramifications of the verdict. However, he bragged several times that his government is providing “good governance”. He also defended the Prosecutor, probably implying that Victoria Buttigieg will stay on in her role.
Half of the country is in shock, and the Prime Minister is living in a completely different world. He is so selfish and disinterested in his own nation and people that his only goal in the press conference was to promote himself and his reforms.
