Mark Anthony Sammut files police report over Facebook suicide comment

PN MP Mark Anthony Sammut has filed a police report after a retired police officer encouraged him to take his own life in a comment on Facebook.

Mark Anthony Sammut identified the man as Patrick Attard, with the comment posted beneath content published by the Labour Party’s propaganda arm, ONE.

โ€œPatrick Attard, a retired police officer, encouraged me to commit suicide,โ€ Sammut wrote. โ€œI filed a police report about this.โ€

The Nationalist MP further alleged that Attard had previously been suspended from the Police Force but was reinstated following Labourโ€™s return to government in 2013.

MMark Anthony Sammut strongly criticised the Labour Party over the incident and insisted the comment would not deter him from his political work.

โ€œFar from committing suicide, I will work even harder to make Malta a country where justice is served and where our children have a future,โ€ he said.

The PN MP has been reiterating the PN’s call for the Attorney-General to resign.
