Malta’s new Ambassador to the United States, Marco Micallef, has formally taken up his post after presenting his Letter of Credence to US President Donald Trump at the White House on 15 September.
Ambassador Micallef described the presentation of his credentials in the Oval Office as a privilege, completing the diplomatic process through which he becomes Malta’s fully accredited representative in Washington. Before meeting the President, Micallef had presented copies of his credentials to US Chief of Protocol Monica Crowley at Blair House.
President Myriam Spiteri Debono had presented Micallef with his Letters of Credence in July. The new Ambsaddor said that one of his priorities would be strengthening Malta-US bilateral relations and exploring new investment opportunities.
