Unusual drone activity near Luxembourg Airport forced the airport to shut down and suspend all arrivals and departures from approximately 10:49pm on Friday night. There has yet to be any confirmation of the source or operators of the drones. Luxembourg authorities had already been investigating several reports of unidentified drones in the country’s airspace earlier this week.
The incident comes amid increasing Russian drone incursions into Europe. Russia has escalated its drone activity around NATO’s eastern borders, with repeated incursions taking place in Romania, Poland, and Lithuania.
