International Criminal Court Prosecutor submits application for arrest warrants against Benjamin Netanyahu, Yoav Gallant, Yahya Sinwar, Ismail Haniyeh and Mohammed Diab Ibrahim Al-Masri

Today, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Karim Khan has submitted arrest warrants over war crimes against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Yoav Galant to the International Criminal Court. They are being accused of deliberately targeting and killing civilians in combat, causing intentional civilian harm and intentionally starving the Gazan population by siege.

The Prosecutor also submitted applications for arrest warrants against Hamas’ leaders including Yahwa Sinwar, Ismail Hainyeh and Mohammed Diab Ibrahim Al-Masri. They are being accused of the murder of civilians, torture, rape and other inhumane acts. You can read the charges and also watch the press conference here.

Karim Khan was in Israel and Palestine last December to conduct his investigations and has gathered extensive evidence to back his claims. Benjamin Netanyahu’s war cabinet is currently being challenged by previous Opposition Leader Benny Gantz who is threatening to resign.

What leaves many perplexed is why the ICC prosecutor did not ever seek arrest warrants against Hezbollah leaders for incessantly firing rockets on Israeli civilians or, indeed, Iranian leaders for organising the launching of about 300 drones and missiles targeting Israeli territory where civilians, both Jews and Arabs, live.

    Are they privileged?

These warrants will probably be issued at some stage as was the ones against Putin. The Israeli government cant claim it killed over 20,000 women and children by mistake and relocated 2 million people so it can destroy the infrastructure to get Hamas. As for the USA I remember when they backed the IRA and their funds and support killed British troops so they cant claim and moral high ground at all
