The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon at Camp Shamrock is to remain operating in the area south of Lebanon despite an official request by the Israeli government to the United Nations to dismantle the camp. The request was refused by Ireland which is leading the operation with us much as 330 troops at Camp Shamrock. The United Nations peace keeping mission is currently operating by guarding civilian and medical convoys and repairing civilian infrastructure. A medical convoy by the Red Cross was targeted recently by the IDF leaving several medics killed.
The Israeli Defence Force is currently bogged down fighting Hezbollah in the southern border of Lebanon with Israel in Yaroun and Maroun Al-Ras. Fighting is ongoing between Hezbollah and the IDF just a couple of kilometres away from Camp Shamrock.
