The war in Sudan is often portrayed in mainstream media as a senseless war between two rival factions that are equally guilty, but there have been continuing scenes of jubilation in the state of Sennar in Sudan as the Sudanese Armed Forces kept liberating towns and villages in the state. The Sudanese Armed Forces have recently liberated the capital city of Sennar state, Sinjah.
The Sudanese government is currently conducting a counteroffensive against the genocidal Rapid Support Forces (Janjaweed militias) making slow gains in various parts of the country. The army has been welcomed in all of the areas it has captured back and many Sudanese blame it for failing to protect them from the RSF. Sudanese residents have also been voluntarily resisting the RSF with the help of the Sudanese army especially in Al-Fashir. The RSF has been retaliating for its losses by massacring civilians. The Sudanese government is also pressuring the United States and the European Union to list the UAE-backed and funded Rapid Support Forces as a terrorist organisation.
A humanitarian crisis is ongoing in Sudan as a result of the war with millions of people having been displaced many in neighbouring Chad. Many Sudanese face famine and are vulnerable to diseases with cholera being the latest is killing people across the country.
