The Shift News sues the Prime Minister for defamation

Earlier today, The Shift News has announced that is to sue Prime Minister Robert Abela over his comments in which he denounced them as liars and a fake news outlet. The Prime Minister made his comments over questions asked to him about his proposed reform on Magisterial Inquiries.

Recently, Jason Azzopardi submitted multiple requests for Magisterial Inquiries with his requests referencing investigations conducted by The Shift News. The investigations are very extensive and detailed and have never been contested by their subjects. This is also not the first time that the Prime Minister attacked the press.

We at The Maltese Herald stand in solidarity with our friends at The Shift News and encourage them to continue their detailed investigations

    It is interesting that after a multitude of accusations from the media towards government of lies, theft and in your face corruption, non of the accused file for defamation. And here we are with one accusation from the side of the government towards one representative of the media, and there you have it, a defamation case.
