No submission of declaration of assets until reform is made

Ironically, the Prime Minister lamented that some members of the Opposition are more focused on Magisterial Inquiries and Court proceedings than addressing the concerns of ordinary people.

Prime Minister Robert Abela has just announced a reform about the submission of declaration of assets claiming that the reform will streamline the declarations of assets for Opposition MPs and government MPs. He also claimed that the current declaration of assets is not sufficient for Opposition MPs given that they are not declaring their revenues from public contracts and referred to Adrian Delia who is currently fighting the government to grant a tender to one of his clients at a higher price.

The government is currently withholding the publication of the declaration of assets of its MPs as two MPs are currently under investigation for their declarations. Just recently, the Prime Minister also announced a reform against the right to request a Magisterial Inquiry and attacked The Shift News as “a fake news outlet”. Last week, Matthew Caruana Galizia accused the government of siding with criminals.
