UPDATED: Following the publication of this article, the Police have sent a reply to us saying that no VISA was issued for the entry of Al-Masri in Malta and they have no reports of his alleged visits to Malta. We are also awaiting further inquiries.
When Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced that she was under investigation for releasing the Libyan wanted criminal Osama al-Masri, she also announced that Al-Masri visited three other European states before travelling to Italy. You can watch her full speech below.
I asked an Italian government official whether the Italian Prime Minister was referring to Malta and he confirmed this also saying that Al-Masri travelled to Malta in late 2024. I have sent questions to multiple people in Italy and Malta about this and I am still awaiting for an answer.
I also sent questions to the Home Affairs Byron Camilleri and Police Commissioner Angelo Gafa asking them whether they were aware that Al-Masri was in Malta given that he has a pending arrest warrant against him by the International Criminal Court. They did not reply.
Note, that Minister Byron Camilleri is often very quick to respond to what he considers as “false allegations” by this website, but so far we have no response from him. We will publish it as soon as we have it.
Victims of human trafficking and slavery in Libya are also protesting against Italy’s decision to repatriate Al-Masri to Libya where he won’t be facing justice.
