Starlink suspected by Ukrainian soldiers of giving away their coordinates to the Russian Army

Updated: Elon Musk denied that he would withdraw Starlink from Ukraine, stating that the Russians could jam any electronic equipment, including Starlink. He also insulted the Polish Foreign Minister and claimed that Poland is paying less than its cost price for Ukraine’s Starlink services.

Ukrainian soldiers in Kursk have published video statements claiming that their positions come under fire every time they switch on their Starlink connection. However, it has not been confirmed whether the Russians are independently intercepting Starlink signals using radio jammers and electronic equipment. Previously, Elon Musk prevented Starlink from being used by the Ukrainians for offensive operations in Crimea.

Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosล‚aw Sikorski has stated that Poland would like for alternatives to Starlink if it is found that it is an unreliable service provider. Starlink services for the Ukrainian Armed Forces are being paid for by Poland.

Elon Musk claimed that Starlink is the backbone of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and back in February also said that he would not turn off Starlink services for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Last week, French President Emmanuel Macron pledged to provide Ukraine with the services of France’s main satellite-link provider, Eutelsat in case Starlink stops its service.

The Untied States has cut off all military aid to Ukraine and also stopped sharing intelligence with Ukraine: these efforts were mostly aiemd at defensive operations.
