Russia has recaptured Kursk from the Ukrainian Armed Forces in a swift and coordinated counter-attack involving up to 50,000 troops that included North Koreans.
The counter-attack followed the halt of US weapons deliveries to Ukraine and also intelligence sharing. Ukrainian troops in Kursk stated that their positions came under heavy fire when they switched on their Starlink connection, but Elon Musk said that Russians could jam any signal.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces invaded Kursk and captured the city of Sudzha in August last year in an attempt to strategically reduce the numbers of Russian troops available for the front in Donbas. Russia counteracted this strategy by importing North Korean soldiers who fought in Kursk and also in Ukraine. President Donald Trump threw a lifeline at the Russian Army as soon as their frontlines in Pokrovsk and Toretsk began to collapse, pressuring Ukraine to offer a ceasefire.
