Ukrainain President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Saudi Arabia’s Crown-Prince Mohammed bin-Salman as he arrived in Jeddah with his delegation for talks with the US delegation. The US and Ukrainian delegations will be discussing the mineral rights deal.
The United States is also pressuring Ukraine to capitulate to Russia with a ceasefire by ceding lost territory. The Ukrainian counter-proposal is a limited ceasefire on all long-range attacks and in the Black Sea. One of the aims of the Ukrainian delegation during these meetings is to convince the US to resume weapons deliveries. The US are not offering any security guarantees or the resumption of weapons deliveries with the mineral rights deal.
President Zelensky will not meet with Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Saudi Arabia. President Donald Trump may also be visiting Jeddah following the end of talks between the delegations.
