The Labour government is currently making a mockery of parliament and democracy by insisting on focusing its parliamentary debates on censoring Karol Aquilina. You can read the motion here. Labour MPs spent the rest of the evening speaking to each other and attacking the Opposition after the Opposition left Parliament.
The Labour government is monopolising our democracy and state institutions with its authoritarian behaviour, and what’s worse about this is that it is taking place when the Prime Minister should show maturity and offer some national leadership in very challenging and historic times, yet his behaviour is more like an infantile tinpot dictator.
All of this doesn’t come in good faith either, and Labour MPs aren’t really offended by Karol Aquilina’s comments in Parliament: they are just an excuse for Labour to attack and bully one of the only Opposition MPs who actively opposes the government. These Labour MPs are pretending they are offended by Karol Aquilina’s accusation that the government wants the power to kill whoever it wants. He made the comment rhetorically when he accused the Labour government of abusing its power. You can see his full comments below from ONE with the video downloaded from Facebook.
Labour’s charade is all a waste of time because as an Opposition MP, Karol Aquilina makes a good point. The Public Inquiry on the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia did find the State responsible for creating the conditions of impunity that lead to her murder. It is clear that Karol Aquilina has the right and legitimacy to make such comments, and Labour’s censoring act is indeed authoritarian. It’s also no news that Labour is evolving into a party of the far-right, so accusing Labour of fascism is not hyperbole.
In reality, I can also assure many readers, that many Labour MPs are actually happy that Daphne Caruana Galizia was murdered including the Minister of Justice himself, despite being one of the most theatrically offended MPs among Labour.
