Turkey engulfed by protests: Dilek Kaya Imamoglu says hopelessness is not an option and Turkey wants democracy

Protests in Turkey have not abated, as hundreds of thousands continued demonstrating in the streets over the weekend following the detention of Ekrem İmamoğlu on what his supporters claim are trumped-up charges. Dilek Kaya Imamoglu, the wife of Ekrem Imamoglu, gave a speech yesterday, outside Istanbul’s city hall in the Sarachane district echoing her husband’s words that hopelessness is not an option and that Turkey wants democracy and equality.

Hundreds of thousands of Turks were out in the streets, yesterday, protesting in Istanbul, Ankara and many other cities. Students clashed with riot police in Taksim Square in Istanbul which is known for student protests and the face-off between police and protesters in 2013.
