Inflation in the Euro area is going down: ECB interest rate decision later today

The European Central Bank is currently discussing the interest rate on the backdrop of dropping inflation in the Euro area. The inflation rate increase in percentage terms in the Euro area was at an average of 2.2% and 2.5% in the European Union in March.

Malta registered an inflation increase of just 2.1% in March and below average. The highest inflation increase were in Romania (5.1%), Hungary (4.8%) and Poland (4.4%). The lowest inflation increase were recorded in France (0.9%), Denmark (1.4) and Luxembourg (1.5%).

Recently, the Euro has also been performing strongly against the US Dollar. The European Central Bank is set to announce its latest interest rate policy decision at 14.15 (Brussels/Frankfurt time).
