A US Naval intelligence monitoring mission of Hurd’s Bank in Malta is to close down as part of US defence cuts in the Mediterranean. Meanwhile US forces in Deir Ez-Zor in north-east Syria have pulled-put and drove to Iraq. The US government is making cuts to its Mediterranean missions via both the Defence Department and the State Department.
The US Naval mission in Malta conducted monitoring and data intelligence of illegal and irregular oil trading at Hurd’s Bank which also involves the trading of contraband Libyan oil and trading by the Russian shadow-oil fleet. The US Naval mission at the US Embassy was also collaborating with an international team between different countries over the monitoring of illegal Russian oil-trading.
