Russia continues attacking Ukrainian cities despite Trump’s demands for Putin to stop

Russia’s attacks against Ukrainian cities and civilians did not stop following President Donald Trump’s demand to Russia’s President Vladimir Putin to “stop” his attacks on Ukrainian civilians, but instead have been diverted from Kyiv to other minor cities. Last night at least one civilian was registered as a casualty due to a Shahed drone attack on the city of Zhytomyr. Another strike last night took place on Odessa city with no casualties reported.

Ukraine submitted ceasefire proposals to Russia through the US last week as President Trump appealed President Putin to stop the airstrikes against Ukrainian cities. A meeting between President Zelensky and President Trump at the Vatican was described as constructive by both sides, with President Trump reiterating his demand to Putin to stop his airstrikes.

Meanwhile, reports from Russia state that Russia is failing to achieve its quota for its current and ongoing mobilisation campaign as it fails to reach its target to recruit 39,000 men per month. 80% of Russian men sent to the front in Ukraine are conscripts with volunteers being promised higher payments to encourage enlistment. Up to 90% of the wounded soldiers are sent back to the front. More than 1,000 Russian soldiers are killed on the front every day.
