Protests in Khan Younis as Israel massacres Palestinians in Gaza

Thousands of Palestinians were out in the streets yesterday in Khan Younis protesting against Hamas and pressuring it to surrender to immediately end the war. Protests against Hamas are continuing despite repression by Hamas against protest leaders.

Israel is currently conducting a genocidal campaign in Gaza where it is killing up to 110 Palestinians every day as reported by the Gaza Civil Defence.ย At least thirty people were killed in Israeli airstrikes and shelling yesterday, namely in Jabalia and Beit Lahia but Israel also conducted raids and airstrikes in Khan Younis.

Meanwhile, in a joint-statement, France, the United Kingdom and Canada deplored Israel’s renewed violence in Gaza and called for a two-state solution. France, Canada and the UK also stated that Israel’s recent announcement on the allowance of minimum humanitarian aid to enter Gaza is inadequate and called on Israel to halt all its military operations in Gaza. The statement also called for an end to the illegal settlements in the West Bank. It concluded with the following:

“And we are committed to recognising a Palestinian state as a contribution to achieving a two-state solution and are prepared to work with others to this end.”
