Daniel Attard investigated by Belgian authorities over Huawei-sponsored football match tickets

Speak of the devil.

The politicians who most often wield national security as a partisan weapon are the very ones most likely to violate it.

Daniel Attard was invited to a football match in Belgium by Huawei through his Hungarian assistant, Attila Benedek. The match between Belgian team Anderlecht and Hungarian team Ferencváros took place last September. Daniel Attard attended the match and enjoyed it from a corporate box that was booked by Huawei.

A source privy to the investigation has told The Maltese Herald that Belgian authorities have extensive recordings of mobile conversations between Daniel Attard and his assistant Attila Benedek, along with other recordings with Huawei representatives. The same source has informed us that the authorities are also investigating whether Joseph Muscat was the original contact and broker.

Daniel Attard has denied any wrongdoing. The Belgian authorities are demanding the removal of his parliamentary immunity, hinting at likely charges to be brought against him in court.

This is a developing story.

What does one expect from an avid Joseph Muscat fanboy.

That’s what happens when you support Joseph Muscat. I hope he is guilty and I hope he sees justice.
