China’s asset in the Labour Party: Daniel Attard – Mayor of Għasri

We are compelled to go back to work due to the incredible amount of confusion, mistakes and lies that are contributing to the ever growing amount of disinformation in Malta’s media space. In very shocking news, Follow The Money has published a story revealing that the Belgian Police mistook the identity of Daniel Attard the MEP with Daniel Attard, Mayor of Għasri (Gozo) in their investigation about bribes by Huawei. Politico are also quoting a letter by the Belgian Police sent to the Police Parliament.

This letter has not been published yet by the editors producing these stories and this is only adding to the confusion. Politico is not helping very much here which handled the story recklessly. Now, the local press is taking the fall for Politico.

The Labour Party is celebrating this news and announcing victory against press accusing it of smears and personal attacks. We previously were told that Daniel Attard was being investigated for receiving free tickets for a football match in Brussels by Huawei. This is a serious matter. Huawei is the Chinese state’s communication technology flagship company which is also embedded with its military industrial complex. China is trying to buy influence in Europe to expand its operations throughout Europe and its operations also pose a serious security risk. European countries which have welcomed Huawei are Spain, Hungary and Greece while its technology and equipment are banned in the UK, Germany, France, Sweden, Romania, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark and other countries.

Daniel Attard (the MEP) never denied receiving the football tickets from Huawei and never denied meeting Huawei representatives. The press should extract confirmations from him about these matters.

Secondly, now we also know that Huawei has sent payments to Daniel Attard – the Mayor of Għasri. Apparently, this matter is being overlooked. The Mayor implicitly admitted to Follow The Money that he received money from Huawei by telling them that “I am a lawyer, I have an international business. I have connections everywhere. I receive money from everywhere.” The Mayor has also been travelling to China in his official capacity.

The Labour Party is in a celebratory mood while it has been reveled that one of its mayors is receiving payments from Huawei. This is shocking and extremely serious. These are matters of national security and Daniel Attard the mayor should be immediately put under investigation. The Labour Party has a Chinese asset as a Mayor and apparently this is acceptable.

Joseph Muscat has opened Malta’s floodgates to the Chinese Communist Party and we are watching in real-time the Labour Party being purchased by Beijing while the idiots who run it celebrate this complete collapse of the political layers that supposedly are meant to protect national security: political parties are not supposed to be harbingers of foreign interests, let alone Beijing’s interests.

The situation is extremely alarming. If previously we were run by criminals, the criminal State is now turning into a puppet of foreign interests, thanks to of all parties, the Labour Party.
