Both Daniel Attard of Għasri and Daniel Attard the MEP are denying they have any connection with Huawei. However, it has been established as a fact that Daniel Attard (the MEP) received free tickets to a football game by Huawei and watch the football game in a VIP box with its representatives.
Daniel Attard has sold Maltese passports to Maltese clients and previously did not deny he had received money from Huawei. The Belgian Police are accusing him of having received a transfer from a Huawei representative.
Meanwhile, the Labour Party is celebrating the fact that it wasn’t Daniel Attard who received the bank transfer from Huawei and is not under investigation by Belgian Police. Daniel Attard is also accusing the press of defamation and declared a libel-war – the local press actually was perfectly factual about the incident over the football match tickets by Huawei.
None of this adds up. Labour Party politicians are actively seeking private and shady business deals and clients from China. There is a whole private Labour-China economy that is also enabling China to increase its influence over Malta. All of this is supposedly a cause for celebration by Labour Party officials and politicians.
