US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth says China’s invasion of Taiwan “could be imminent”

The US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has stated in Singapore that China’s threat to conquer Taiwan by force could be imminent, but hoped that it is not. His words can be heard below. The US Defense Secretary was making his remarks at the annual Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore held by the International Institute for Strategic Studies in Singapore (IISS) which focuses on the security of the Indo-Pacific region.

French President Emmanuel Macron was also present at the summit and also warned that allowing Russia to win in Ukraine would negatively impact Taiwan saying that

โ€œIf we consider that Russia could be allowed to take a part of the territory of Ukraine without any restriction, without any constraint, without any reaction of the global orderโ€”how would you phrase what could happen in Taiwan?”

China is escalating its water wars in the Indo-Pacific and China has reiterated multiple times that it will be annexing Taiwan. China has also held regular military exercises to practice its invasion of Taiwan and also escalated its grey tactics maneuvers against it.
