Shooting incident repeated at aid distribution in Gaza early this morning

More than 50 Palestinians were killed by the IDF this weekend with the latest casualties being reported early this morning at Rafah’s aid distribution centre in al-Akhawah. This at least the third time there has been reported a shooting on Palestinians trying to access aid at the newly opened aid distribution centres in Gaza.

Palestinians in Gaza were denied humanitarian aid after Israel broke its ceasefire and hostage exchange deal with Hamas in March. However, aid was allowed back into the Mediterranean enclave after the US government pressured the Israeli Prime Minister to permit its passage.

The IDF conducting aerial bombings and raids across Gaza during the weekend. Hamas has stated that the IDF raided a location where a hostage, Matan Zangauker, was being held. Hamas also implied in its statement that the hostage may have been killed during the attack but there is no confirmation of this. Another hostage, Thai national, Nattapong Pinta, who was abducted by Hamas on October 7th, was found dead. Hamas still holds up to 19 hostages who are thought to be alive.

There are also reports that the IDF is currently arming criminal gangs in Gaza to fight Hamas, including a gang led by a known bandit and drug-dealer, Yasser Abu-Shabab.

Regular weekend protests against the war and the ongoing genocide in Gaza were also held in Tel Aviv with protesters holding images of children killed in IDF bombings in Gaza.

European countries, including Malta are set to recognise a Palestinian state at an upcoming United Nations conference.
