Exclusive: Several buildings on St Georges Road in Paceville at risk of collapse

As The Maltese Herald reported last week, there are several buildings on St Georges Road in Paceville at risk of collapsing. These buildings have now been cordoned off as may be seen in the photos below.

Sources who spoke to this news portal explained that the demolition works on the former Avenue site have caused structural damages to these buildings. They include the Melita Pharmacy complex, the G Hotel, Daveโ€™s supermarket and other apartments on top of these shops.

The buildings right next to Tania Flats which collapsed last week are also structurally damaged. Residents who live a few doors down have been told that they cannot go back to their homes yet. A relative who was allowed in to view the situation described the residence full of dust and uninhabitable.

Residents who spoke to The Maltese Herald also said that it appears that some caves have been found under the buildings although this could not be confirmed at this stage. Other sources said that it is currently problematic for heavy machinery to access the site and clear the debris dueย  to the unstable land surface.

Further information will be made available as this is a developing story.
