Updated: Family of Jean Paul Sofia issue condemnation against Kurt Buhagiar’s reinstatement at Lands Authority

UPDATED: The previous article mentioned a planned protest. No protest is being planned and we apologise for the mistake.

Relatives of Jean Paul Sofia, including his mother, Isabelle Bonnici, have issued a statement revocation of the reinstatement of Kurt Buhagiar with the Lands Authority.

In 2023, Isabelle Bonnici lead national protests against the government after her son was killed at an illegal construction site being development on public land in Kordin. The national protests eventually compelled the government to institute a public inquiry on the matter which lead to reforms aimed at strengthening the safety standards in construction. The contractors responsible for the construction site Kurt Buhagiar, Matthew Schembri and the architect are being charged in Court for negligent killing.

A statement released by the organisers has condemned the government’s protection of the accused, Kurt Buhagiar. Buhagiar also has close links with the Labour Party.

The response from the public may suggest apathy at this moment. I just hope intelligent observers will process the information and punish the government at the next general election for its utterly disgusting behaviour in failing to prevent Jean Paul’s, and numerous other, avoidable tragedies. VOTE THEM OUT.
