In a flash release published by Eurostat, the estimated inflation rate of the Euro area in July is set to remain stable at 2% with food and services rising and energy prices decreasing. Malta’s estimated inflation rate for July is also set at 2.5% in line with its 2.5% June figure.
In a separate release, Eurostat released unemployment figures with the unemployment in June in the the Euro area at 6.2% and 5% for the European Union. Malta has retained the lowest unemployment rate in the EU with 2.5%. Spain has the highest unemployment rate in the EU at 10.4%. Unemployment figures provided by Eurostat for Sweden and Finland differ from official national figures due to different methodologies with the official local figures being lower than those presented by Eurostat.
