European Leaders praise President Trump and acknowledge his leadership status over negotiations with Russia

In a statement issued by the European Council President, the EU Commissioner, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, the UK and Finland, earlier today, European leaders praised President Trump for his meeting with Russian President Vladimir yesterday and even stated that the road to peace will be brought with President Trump’s vision. European leaders stated in their statement that the next steps to peace are further talks by President Donald Trump and his meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky next Monday.

In their latest statement, European leaders have dropped references and mentions to Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty contrary to previous statements issued by the same leaders before the meeting with President Trump and Vladimir Putin. European leaders however stated that it is only up to Ukraine to decide about its borders and borders can not be changed by force. European leaders also stated that Ukraine should have security guarantees and that Russia should not have a veto on Ukraine’s membership with NATO.

In a separate statement, French President Emmanuel Macron said that it is indispensable to keep up the pressure on Russia and sustaining Ukraine to bring a durable and respectful peace for Ukraine.

President Donald Trump was meant to issue new sanctions and tariffs if Vladimir Putin did not agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine during his meeting in Anchorage, Alaska, but new sanctions will be issued while President Trump continues his talks with different leaders.
