France, Britain, Germany, Finland, Italy and Poland are rallying behind Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky and supporting his position prior to the meeting that will be held between President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Alaska next Friday. President Trump intends to meet with Putin to cut up and divide Ukraine on a map but President Zelensky reiterated that Ukraine will be giving no territorial concessions to Russia.
European leaders issued a statement declaring that the current contact-line should be the starting point of any negotiations but they will also continue their unwavering support for Ukraine, its independence and territorial integrity. Russia is demanding Ukraine to give up even more land, namely the region of Dnipro, in exchange for peace. European leaders also stated that Ukraine deserves security guarantees to protect its territorial integrity.
The statement was also signed by EU’s Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Russian airstrikes with drones and missiles continued against Ukrainian cities this week with the latest overnight attacks being reported to have taken place against the city of Synelnykove.
