Something very strange and interesting is taking place in Maltese politics right now as environmental NGOs rally behind the Nationalist Party’s proposal to introduce constitutional amendments to protect the environment and natural ecosystems. For the first time in decades we are seeing extensive support for the Nationalist Party by environmental NGOs.
The Labour Party has reacted impulsively with disingenuous and stupid comments over PN’s proposals: they accused the Nationalist Party of being irresponsible. The same party-in-government that wants to dismantle all environmental regulations has accused the Nationalist Part of being irresponsible – no one is buying its drivel except for hunters who have built a strong alliance with Labour and are enjoying a myriad of privileges. I wonder who is exactly drawing up the Labour Party’s strategy right now because it sounds like the drivel of a teenager on drugs.
This is the political moment that PN is trying to turn the tables on Labour, and it seems to be working.
Below you can listen to the comments of the President of the Ramblers Association, Ingram Bondin, saying that the Nationalist Party’s proposal are a dream come true for environmental NGOs. Ingram Bondin is the last person I have ever expected to speak positively of the Nationalist Party.
How the turn-tables turn.
