ENGOs back Nationalist Party’s call to introduce right to environment in the Constitution: Hunters and developers are against

Environmental NGOs and political party Momentum are backing a proposal by the Nationalist Party to introduce the right to the environment in Malta’s constitution. The NGOs which are backing the proposals are Ramblers’ Association of Malta Flimkien Ghal Ambjent Ahjar, Din l-Art Helwa, Friends of the Earth Malta, Moviment Graffitti, Birdlife Malta, Nature Trust Malta, Wirt Ghawdex and Ghawdix.

The proposal aims to ensure that air, water and land ecosystems are protected by the Constitution. Members of these NGOs have contacted The Maltese Herald and have expressed strong support for this measure and applauded Opposition Leader Alex Borg for his new effort to defend the environment.

Hunters (FKNK) are opposing the proposal, but we have also been informed that some construction developers are up in arms against the Opposition Leader over this new proposal.
