Having spread the false claim that the Opposition and the Nationalist Party wants to abolish religious feasts and put them at legal risk, Labourites have turned to the Opposition’s spokesperson on the environment, Rebekah Borg, and hurled hateful abuse at her including by using sexist and racial diatribes.
The Nationalist Party has been subjected to a wide disinformation campaign by the Labour Party after having proposed to introduce constitutional provisions that protect Malta’s environment and ecosystems. As the Opposition spokesperson for the Environment, Rebekah Borg has been particularly targeted. Nationalist MP Albert Buttigieg has also been targeted with a disinformation campaign against him.
Many of the representatives of “hobby” associations coming out against the Nationalist Party’s proposals are actually Labour Party associates including the main hunters’ organisation, FKNK.
It’s very and publicly evident that the political discourse by Labour has degenerated into an irrational form of reactionary and conservative vitriol.
