Alkagesta, being the fraudsters that they are, have reacted to our investigation about them on The Maltese Herald with a very extensive PR campaign that involved sponsored articles on the local press, vexatious copyright claims to Google about our articles, and also a blogging campaign with rumours, stupidity and disinformation.
One of the latest accusations against us that was spurned by Alkagesta’s media campaign against us is that we are targeting them specifically because we are racist against the people of Azerbaijan and also because we have a pro-Armenian bias. We do not understand why race and ethnic issues have to be brought into this investigation given that the theme of this investigation is mainly the Russian oil trade and not Azerbaijan itself.
Separately, we stand by with our reporting about Azerbaijan’s ethnic-cleansing of Armenians in Artsakh and Nagorno-Karabakh. The reporting is correct.
We would also like to point out that our investigations on Russian oil trading and sanctions against Russia are universal and do not discriminate by race, company or nation. In fact, we also reported on the past Russian connections of the owner of Ardshinbank who made a bid for HSBC Malta. We also highlighted the potential risks of an Armenian bank acquiring a Maltese bank due to the risks related to Russian trading and sanctions. Anyone who read our reports on Ardshinbank could understand that we had a bias against its bid for HSBC Malta due to potential risks related to Russian trading in the Armenian banking system.
It doesn’t matter whether Alkagesta is owned by Azerbaijanis or Armenians – Alkagesta is Malta’s biggest oil cargo-handler and has traded Russian oil in Europe on multiple occasions, apart from conducting other aggravated violations, and that’s all that matters.
