Surveys: PN continues to make slight gains

The Nationalist Party continues to make slight gains according to the latest electoral survey published by Malta Today.

The Labour Party continues to lead the PN although its advantage has declined further to 7600 votes from 8400 votes in October. The survey comes after a socially progressive budget which saw substantial tax cuts for families with children.

Interestingly, although the PN under Alex Borg has substantially increased its lead in the Northern and Northern Harbour regions, it has seen its lead shaved in Gozo to just 4 points. The PL also has consolidated its base in the South with substantial leads. This may lead to a frenzy of handouts by government.

The usual gap by education and gender remains with lower educated voters opting for the PL. Men also prefer the PL whilst more women prefer the PN.

Curiously, the PL is losing a large number of voters to abstention whilst the PN has consolidated its support base from the 2022 election. AD’s 4.2% polling could also make it the kingmaker in the forthcoming election.

Alex Borg also continues to make inroads against Robert Abela with the Trust Rating gap now at just 10 points, down from 13 in October.
