With a baggage of his own, Joe Giglio is unable to explain the ongoing sabotage of Justice

The Labour government has made immense efforts to sabotage the Justice system in order to cover-up its Labour Party associates. The lingering risk behind the failure of the Court case about the public hospitals concessions may contribute to Joseph Muscat’s rehabilitation into politics. Joe Giglio seems to be unfazed by this prospect as the Nationalist Party is exclusively fielding Adrian Delia to counter the Justice Minister’s rhetoric about the case.

Excluding his legal remarks about the case at the International Court of Arbitration, Joe Giglio has been mostly absent in the Opposition’s fight for justice over the corrupt public hospitals concession. Criticism against the Attorney-General over her incompetence in her management of the public hospitals concessions case has come from all quarters including an ex-Labour Party MEP. The Attorney-General Victoria Buttigieg has ensured to preventing prosecutions against Labour Party politicians just like Police Commissioner Angelo Gafa has prevented any investigations on political corruption.

Joe Giglio’s silence and inaction should not be treated kindly because he is a criminal lawyer with an extensive baggage and also indirect links to corrupt members and associates of the Labour Party. For example, Joe Giglio has a conflict of interest by having been the lawyer of Pilatus Bankย  Ali Sadr Hasheminejad. Joe Giglio had a direct interest in preventing Ali Sadr Hasheminejad from being prosecutor in Malta’s Courts, something that the Attorney-General was successful in preventing – once again, by invoking kangaroo courts. Joe Giglio was involved previous Kazakh oligarch and politician, Rakhat Aliyev, seemingly more than as his defence lawyer.

These conflicts of interests seemed to have raised concerns for previous PN Leader Bernard Grech, but the new PN Leader Alex Borg seems not to be very bothered. Adrian Delia is now publicly more visible as the informal Justice spokesperson of the Nationalist Party and Joe Giglio is barely seen. One needs to ask whether Joe Giglio is the Nationalist Party’s token representation of a newfound tolerance to obstruction of justice and systematic corruption within the authorities.

Delia is doing a fine job as it is. Maybe you should consider that it is Delia who might wish to go head on against this issue since he knows all the nuances involved ?
