Sombre mood in London as European leaders discuss capitulation to the US-Kremlin Pact

There was a very sombre mood at 10, Downing Street, earlier today as President Volodymyr Zelensky met with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer,  French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The quartet discussed the US-Kremlin proposed capitulation plan but Chancellor Merz said that he is skeptical about some details that the US is proposing.

President Zelensky is currently under enormous pressure by the US and President Trump to accept the US-Kremlin capitulation pact. He said that Ukraine won’t give up the Donbas region – a demand currently being made by Russia and the US. Russia has still not yet conquered Donbas and up t0 100,000 Ukrainians are still living in the region. He added that Ukraine is currently depending on Europe’s support to continue fighting the war and resist the Russian invasion.

The Ukrainian President will be meeting with EU and NATO leaders tomorrow in Brussels.

Russia is demanding territorial concessions and recognition of its conquered lands. It is also demanding Ukraine to restrict the size of its army and not to join NATO. There is uncertainty about what kind of security guarantees the Europeans are ready to give to Ukraine.

Fighting in the frontlines is continuing as Russia conducts its daily airstrikes against Ukrainian cities and civilians.
