The latest reports about abducted journalist Muammar Ibrahim state that his health condition is worsening while in custody under the Rapid Support Forces. Muammar Ibrahim was captured and abducted by the RSF when they stormed the city of Al-Fashir on the 26th October. He was one of the last journalists reporting from the besieged city which suffered an ethnic cleansing under the hands of the RSF.
The Rapid Support Forces remain well armed and supplied despite publicly broadcasting their war crimes and genocides when they captured the city of Al-Fashir.
The Maltese Herald is extremely concerned about the health and security of Muammar Ibrahim and we are requesting high-level diplomats and world leaders to engage with the United Arab Emirates to put pressure on the RSF to immediately release Muammar Ibrahim.
We reiterate that anyone responsible for harming journalists, should be held accountable by the relevant and international authorities.
