Updated: An Al-Jazeera journalist is now reporting that Muammar Ibrahim is still alive. The journalist is quoting a pro-RSF source.
Several reports state that Sudanese journalist Muammar Ibrahim has been murdered while in custody by the UAE-backed genocidal militia, the Rapid Support Forces. Muammar Ibrahim was captured by the RSF on October 26th after the militia stormed the city of Al-Fashir. He was one of the last journalists in Al-Fashir before the city was captured.
Muammar Ibrahim was last seen alive in a video published by the RSF in early November, showing him detained by RSF officials in a prison in Nyala. The political forces supporting the RSF blamed Muammar Ibrahim for the causes of Sudan’s war.
A campaign initiated by The Maltese Herald to free Muammar Ibrahim was unsuccessful. We insist on international and relevant authorities to hold to account those responsible for his murder.
