In 2025 the US turned against Europe but 2026 will be Donald Trump’s turning point

Anyone who still thinks that the US is Europe’s biggest ally is living in a different world. Under President Donald Trump, the US is an enemy and and rival to Europe – it is not an ally. The US is trying to undermine Europe mainly in two ways: forcing Europe and Ukraine to capitulate tp Russia and by interfering in its politics and supporting the far-right in Europe.

The US government is actively supporting the far-right and pro-Russian political parties in Europe, such as the AFD, at the expense of the European political mainstream and established institutions. The US government is also trying to discredit EU institutions and inspire distrust in them. The US policy against Europe is delineated in the US Security Strategy which Russia supports. You can also read this Risk Report about this development.

The US government also wants Europe and Ukraine to capitulate to Russia: it wants Ukraine to cede land to Russia and stop resisting its invasion and wants Europe to trade with Russia once again. In 2025, the US government has begun promoting Russia’s interests at the expense of Europe.

The US also wants to acquire Greenland and the US government is insisting that Greenland should be owned by the US.

President Donald Trump is making unprecedented pressure and attacks against Europe in support of his Russian allies. His administration is set to continue these attacks in many different ways. Some European intelligence agencies are very much aware of this new political states of affairs and as a result they are cutting down on intelligence sharing with the US – M16 in particular.

As usual, some European leaders refuse to recgonsie this reality because they are afraid of its consequences. Many just bury their head in the sand and keep pronouncing beautiful overtures about our Trans-Atlantic relationship that is already something of the past. Others like Denmark have already recognise the US as a security threat.

Yet, this isn’t a permanent state of affairs either. The recent cover-up of the Jeffrey Epstein files has come at the expense of a lot of support, including from his most hardcore and loyal base. Marjorie Taylor Greene has been the first one of his America First loyalists to defect. But as the cover-up continues to become ever more clear, President Trump is increasingly losing support.ย The mid-term elections next year will be definitive.

President Trump has horrible alternatives in the Republican Party: JD Vance has an extreme fondness for Russia and the European far-right and so do Trump’s acolytes such as Pete Hegseth and Tulsi Gabbard.ย  These individuals form part of a the far-right and pro-Russian trend in the Republican party. They are currently working to undermine Europe and supporting Russia’s interests.

However the far-right may also be at its peak both in the US and in Europe. The French Presidential elections will be decisive but there is still no absolute majority for the far-right parties in Germany and France. As President Trump and the Republicans begin to experience the fall-out of the Epstein files, this fall-out will also negatively affect all the European politicians that supported Donald Trump. We predict that 2026 will be a turning-point for the Republican Party and its fall0out from the Jeffrey Epstein case will also spillover onto the European far-right that is allied with Donald Trump.

  1. […] Despite persistent interference by the US into Ukraine’s affairs, Ukraine is only being backed by Europe and allies like Canada with the US currently providing zero support. The US is currently also pressuring Europe to normalise ties with Russia. […]
