Yesterday, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Canada in anticipation of a meeting with President Donald Trump that will be held later today. The meeting will revolve around the proposed US-Kremlin Capitulation Pact for Ukraine and comes on President Trump’s invitation. Europe and Ukraine have presented a counter-proposal to the US-Kremlin Pact which has not yet been accepted by Russia.
Some press reports state that the meeting between President Zelensky and President Trump will be held in public with the media present and no private meeting will follow.
Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney announced up to $2.5 billion (Canadian Dollars) in economic aid to Ukraine during President Zelensky’s visit to Canada.
Meanwhile, Russia has escalated its airstrikes against Ukrainian cities and civilians firing up to 500 drones and 40 cruise missiles at cities yesterday alone. At least one person was killed in Kyiv and dozens of others injured as a result of the attacks. Russia has consistently escalated its airstrikes against Ukrainian civilians whenever the US pressured Ukraine to capitulate, effectively holding Ukrainian citizens hostages with its murderous pressure.
President Zelensky said that Ukraine wants peace but peace should not come at an cost and reiterated that there should be clear security guarantees. The US is currently not offering any security guarantees.
Despite persistent interference by the US into Ukraine’s affairs, Ukraine is only being backed by Europe and allies like Canada with the US currently providing zero support. The US is currently also pressuring Europe to normalise ties with Russia.
